Election Information

There will be an election at the Wexford Township Hall on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm. Absentee ballots will be available from the clerk upon request and can be returned by mail or in the drop box located on our Township Hall. Early voting will be available: 

• Location:   Wexford County Courthouse, 437 E. Division St, Cadillac, MI 
• Dates:  Saturday 7/25/26 through Sunday 8/2/26
• Time:  Polls open from 8:30am to 4:30pm

Please be aware that on December 8, 2025, the Federal Postal Service passed a new section (608.11 of FR Doc. 2025-20740) that changes when mail is officially postmarked. The postmark is often used to prove when you mailed things like absentee ballots, tax payments, bills, and other time‑sensitive documents. Under the new policy:

• More mail will be postmarked at regional processing centers, not your local post office. 
• The postmark may reflect when your mail arrives at the regional processing center, not the day you actually mailed it.
• Mail handed directly to your local post office will still receive a local postmark.
• U.S. Representative Jack Bergman, a member of the Congressional Postal Service Caucus, has asked for the rule to be reversed due to its impact on rural communities.

What does this mean for you?

• Vote in person if possible.
• If voting by mail, mail your ballot early. 
• If you are concerned about the postmark date, mail it in person at the post office.
• If you are local, use the Township Hall drop box.
